Question Title Can I transfer a text field to a number field?
Yes, a text field can be transferred to a numeric field, but the information must be numbers only (0-9) and must not contain any alpha characters. Use the Database Utilities, Global Update to perform this procedure.  You'll need to click on the start button, all programs, Contact Plus Professional, Tools to get to this utility.
