Transfering your calendar and Web Cal Plus to a different machine

  1. Install the trial version of Web Cal Plus onto your new machine. Use the default location of c:\program files\webcalplus as you did on the old machine.
  2. On the old machine, you'll want to burn a copy of the entire webcalplus folder onto a CD or copy the files onto a jump drive. A jump drive (usb drive) is the easiest way to transfer your data from your old to your new machine.
  3. On the old machine, you'll also want to export the registry settings. The registry will contain a bunch of information related to the calendar appearance. Follow these instructions:
    1. Click on the Start button in Windows
    2. Click the RUN option
    3. Type in REGEDIT and press ENTER
    4. On the left panel, browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    5. Then Browse to \Software\Contact Plus Corporation\WebCalPlus
    6. With WebCalPlus highlighted in the left panel, click on the File, Export menu. You'll be prompted to save the REG file. Give it a name such as webcal.
    7. Save the resulting WEBCAL.REG file onto your jump drive for transfer to your new computer.
  4. Take the Web Cal Plus files that were stored on the CD or jump drive and copy them into the corresponding location on your new machine. I.e. Copy from \program files\webcal to \program files\webcal
  5. On the new machine run Web Cal Plus and click on the Help, Type in your Registration name menu item. You'll type in your registration code that you received when first purchasing Web Cal Plus. If you don't have your license code please click here to request it to be sent to you again.
  6. Run Web Cal Plus. You should see your data. If you don't, please double check the files that were copied. Perhaps you didn't copy them into the correct place on your new machine.
  7. Locate the WEBCAL.REG file that was created in step 3 above. It may still be on the jump drive. Double click on the REG file. This will insert the Web Cal Plus registry entry into your new machine.
  8. Voila! You've successfully transferred the calendar from your old machine to your new machine.

Note that if you incorporated graphic files into your calendar on the old machine, you'll have to transfer the graphic files to the new machine. The easiest thing would be to create the same graphic file folder structure on your new machine and then simply copy the graphic files from the old machine to the new into the same corresponding folder.
